Easy wins will not be arriving at the Wachovia Center very often this season. That is just how it is with this Sixers team. Last night, the Sixers got a chance to savor a big lead and rolled to an easy win over the Charlotte Bobcats, 94-63. The Bobcats had won their first 2 this […]
76ers coast by the Bobcats and even their record at 2-2
Sixers open at home after beating up Bulls in Chicago
The 76ers won their first game of the season in Chicago, 98-85. They did it with gritty defense and hustle. Andre Miller looked determined to get his game going from the start. He had 12 in the first quarter and 25 for the game. He was aggressive in looking for his shot. Miller has averaged […]
Iguodala is not alone in not getting a new deal
Andre Iguodala is not the only very good young NBA player not to get a new contract extension. The Bulls’ Luol Deng and Ben Gordon and the Hawks Josh Childress and Josh Smith did not get extended either. Gordon said of the the talks with the Bulls:
”It was never really a negotiation,” Gordon said. ”It was kind of […]
76ers Lose Opener to Raptors 106-97
This was a night that the Sixers opened their season and made a fateful personnel decision. They decided that they could not offer Andre Iguodala the max contract he wanted, opening the door for him to be a restricted free agent come July 1. Iguodala then scored 23 in a losing effort in Toronto. His performance […]
76ers Preview
2007/2008 76ers Prediction from The Sports Network
The 76ers are about to begin a new season, and a new chapter in the franchise history. The changes of last year, trading Allen Iverson, releasing Chris Webber and the efforts to make something tangible from the remaining games after sealed the deal on the mesmerizing if not satisfying […]
Iguodala talks take on urgency

The extension deal nears a deadline Wednesday night.
By Marc Narducci
Inquirer Staff Writer
With a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday looming, the talks between the 76ers and Andre Iguodala regarding a contract extension have taken on a sense of urgency. Iguodala’s agent, Rob Pelinka, flew from his office in California to meet for three hours yesterday […]
Sixers lose another preseason game to Knicks
The Sixers have won just 1 preseason game, that was against a Celtics team that played without Garnett and Pierce. Last night they were beaten by the Knicks for the 2nd time this preseason, 103 - 90. I have been paying casual attention to them, but one thing that I have noticed as the season […]
Looking forward to the 76ers season with an excellent Iguodala highlight vid
A chezzy62 creation.
As the 76ers season approaches, I am wondering if they win 41 games this year. They did not make big splashy moves in the off season, but really they did that last season when they traded AI and let CWebb walk. I believe that both moves had to be made. Andre Iguodala became the […]
I Like Reggie Evans
Reggie Evans. The name does not bring an image to mind. Nothing. I do not know anything but what I have read about him. He had the highest rebounds per 48 minutes average in the NBA last year, at 17. Last season, he averaged 4.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in Denver. […]
What Role for Thaddeus Young
I was surprised to see a small forward picked by Billy King in the draft. Don’t the Sixers have this player already in Andre and Rodney? I guess he felt that Young was the best player available. The team needs to improve the talent level, so I understand that thinking. I just wonder how he fits with the […]

Just for a laugh!
- Dan Rather, Katie Couric, and a tough Marine Sergeant were all captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would grant them each one last request before they were beheaded. Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content." Katie Couric said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end." The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Couric dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy." The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. Marine tough guy, what is your final wish?" "Kick me in the ass," said the Marine. "What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?" "No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from under his flack jacket, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he jumped to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and sprayed the terrorists with gunfire. In a flash, all of them were either dead or fleeing for their lives. As the marine was untying Rather and Couric, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass first?" What???" replied the Marine, "and have you two assholes report that I was the aggressor?"
