The Flyers have not had a great road trip so far, but last night they were able to get a fast start and knock off the Penguins for the first time the 2005-6 season. Pittsburgh blanked them last year, winning all 8 games.
“There’s a lot of guys who weren’t here last year, so we wanted to kind […]
Flyers defeat Penguins 3-1, reverse trend
76ers coast by the Bobcats and even their record at 2-2
Easy wins will not be arriving at the Wachovia Center very often this season. That is just how it is with this Sixers team. Last night, the Sixers got a chance to savor a big lead and rolled to an easy win over the Charlotte Bobcats, 94-63. The Bobcats had won their first 2 this […]
Phillies Trade for Brad Lidge - Myers to Rotation
The Phils made a trade with Ed Wade in his new role as GM of the Astros, obtaining closer Brad Lidge and infielder Eric Bruntlett for Geoff Geary, Michael Bourne and minor league 3rd baseman Mike Costanzo .
The move puts Lidge in the back of the bullpen and Brett Myers back in the rotation.
Myers liked his […]
Cowboys own the NFC East - defeat Eagles 38-17
I had been anticipating this game for weeks. I saw Donovan McNabb makes small but certain steps toward his old self. The defense had been stout in nearly all of the games. Surely, with the season’s hopes riding on a good performance, this Birds team would rise up and make a statement about themselves, their […]
Sixers open at home after beating up Bulls in Chicago
The 76ers won their first game of the season in Chicago, 98-85. They did it with gritty defense and hustle. Andre Miller looked determined to get his game going from the start. He had 12 in the first quarter and 25 for the game. He was aggressive in looking for his shot. Miller has averaged […]
Iguodala is not alone in not getting a new deal
Andre Iguodala is not the only very good young NBA player not to get a new contract extension. The Bulls’ Luol Deng and Ben Gordon and the Hawks Josh Childress and Josh Smith did not get extended either. Gordon said of the the talks with the Bulls:
”It was never really a negotiation,” Gordon said. ”It was kind of […]
Roy Williams knocks McNabb’s Claim of Philly’s Crown
From ESPN.com
IRVING, Texas — Over the next three Sundays, the Dallas Cowboys can go a long way toward reclaiming supremacy in the NFC East.
So it’s only fitting their path begins in Philadelphia, home to the division champion five of the past six seasons.
Dallas goes in 6-1 and leading the division. The Eagles are 3-4 and […]
Eagles vs Cowboys Prediction
I listened for about 5 minutes to the rekindled debate about Andy Reid and his kids this week. I have turned the channel when it has been the topic of conversation on 610 WIP, PTI or any other outlet. Only one aspect of the situation is relevant to me. Are the Eagles playing well? All […]
Romo gets another shot at Eagles
Tony Romo had a tough time in his last start against the Birds. He was held to a career low 142 yards and was picked a couple of times.
From the Dallas Morning News:
“They are very sound,” Romo said. “They are the one team I would describe as very structured chaos. They bring exotic stuff, but they […]
76ers Lose Opener to Raptors 106-97
This was a night that the Sixers opened their season and made a fateful personnel decision. They decided that they could not offer Andre Iguodala the max contract he wanted, opening the door for him to be a restricted free agent come July 1. Iguodala then scored 23 in a losing effort in Toronto. His performance […]

Just for a laugh!
- Dan Rather, Katie Couric, and a tough Marine Sergeant were all captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would grant them each one last request before they were beheaded. Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content." Katie Couric said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end." The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Couric dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy." The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. Marine tough guy, what is your final wish?" "Kick me in the ass," said the Marine. "What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?" "No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from under his flack jacket, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he jumped to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and sprayed the terrorists with gunfire. In a flash, all of them were either dead or fleeing for their lives. As the marine was untying Rather and Couric, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass first?" What???" replied the Marine, "and have you two assholes report that I was the aggressor?"
