The Eagles are prepping for the Cowboys, and some good news has been announced. Brian Dawkins is expected to start. This is great news for Eagles fans, especially considering the talk in some corners that he might not take the field again until his number was retired. Dawkins return hopefully will add some playmaking to the defensive backfield which is not generating enough turnovers.
Trent Cole has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. He had 2 sacks and 3 tackles for losses against the run on Sunday. He has a league leading 9 sacks this season. That is the most by an Eagle since Hugh Douglas got 12.5 in 2002.
The Birds have released Matt McCoy and promoted Akeem Jordan to the 53 man roster. McCoy has been a huge bust. I listened to GCobb comment on McCoy this morning on 610 WIP. He said that the first time he saw him, he noted undersized he was, and that he never expected him to be a player to warrant a 2nd round pick. I have heard many others state that McCoy would have been available in the 5th round or so that year. I am not as negative about the Eagles drafting record as some people are, but this was sure a stinker.
Reggie Brown on his super sideline catch -
They were in a cover two, and it was little go. I had to slip inside and I saw McNabb scrambling and he just put it up. At first I thought the DB was going to knock it down and I was in between jumping and not jumping and I just kind of drifted and was able to keep my feet in. Those kind of plays help your confidence the rest of the day. You are on high when you make those kind of plays.
