If the Eagles had scored 1 touchdown on their trips into the red zone, they would have gone a long way to making me feel good about Sunday’s win over the Jets. As it was, the winds made Akers field goal attempts hairy, and that left the game in jeopardy when it would have otherwise been a workman-like win over a bad team.
In the 3 trips into the red zone, and at least one other that stalled just beyond the 20, the Eagles had plays in the end zone that were close but not quite. On 2 occasions, a little better pass from McNabb gets them 6. I think as the season winds on, those missed connections get connected. From my couch, the 400+ yard offensive day would then appear much more productive than this one did.
