The Cowboys are 5-0. Fox is thrilled. The NFL is thrilled. They like nothing better than to talk about the Cowboys. But really, are they that good? The teams they have beaten are a combined 6-19 and 1 of the teams has 1 win, and 2 of them are winless.

Against the 1 win Buffalo Bills, Tony Romo threw 5 picks and scored more points for Buffalo than the Bills offense. I am not sold on Romo. When he got into the lineup last year, he started fast and faded late.

The Patriots will bring them back to Earth. I think it was ESPN and Philly guy, Sal Palantonio, on Comcast Sportsnet’s Daily News Live in Philadelphia, who observed that he felt the Bills D last week was nothing special, just cover 2 and cover 3, but they consistently confused the Cowboys QB. Below is video of the picks he threw in that game.

After I posted this on Friday, I was watching ESPN’s 1st and Ten.  Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smith were debating Tony Romo. I do not have any video, but I will share a couple of highlights.

I did not record it, but I took notes, so I am paraphrasing the quotes.

Stephen A - About Romo and the Cowboys, he stated that he has observed a “concerted effort to make him (Romo) more than he is”.  He noted Romo’s “questionable accuracy”.  In essense he feels like I do that the league and television broadcasters are working to make him a star.

Bayless - He is “too short  and sidearmed” to throw consistently over the line.  He will go through “crazy hot and crazy cold” streaks.

I expect the Cowboys to come back down to Earth a bit.  They have played well and can only play those on their schedule, but their record is as bloated as Andy Reid’s waistline.
