A chezzy62 creation.
As the 76ers season approaches, I am wondering if they win 41 games this year. They did not make big splashy moves in the off season, but really they did that last season when they traded AI and let CWebb walk. I believe that both moves had to be made. Andre Iguodala became the focus of the team and responded well to his expanded role. The team is not talented enough to contend for the division title, but the young players have potential and that will make it an exciting year of what ifs and constant evolution.
The main thing that has to happen for this team to move forward is the emergence of one of the three kids, Rodney Carney, Thaddeus Young or Jason Smith. If one of those three can develop into an impact player to complement Andre Miller and Andre Iguodala, then the squad could rise to .500 or better. The returning supporting cast is what it is, and I do not expect any large leaps in performance.
The other new asset that I am curious to watch is Reggie Evans. Evans is a sweat equity player. His effort on the glass and playing defense will be a constant. How will he produce when getting more minutes than he has ever played before? If you just extrapolate the averages from his previous seasons, his rebounding should be among the best in the league. Sometimes more minutes gets you more, sometimes it exposes flaws otherwise kept in the background. I am looking forward to seeing how he does.
