This is a breaking story out of yesterday’s Phillies game 1 loss to the Rockies. The Phillies brass is yet to comment, and the Rockies management is secluded while they try to devise a strategy to deal with what may be the latest cheating scandal in professional sports.
Rockies reliever Manny Corpas has been caught doctoring his shirt before entering the game with the Phillies in the ninth inning. His nasty, tailing fastball was virtually unhittable. Is it because of his use of a foreign substance to create an illegal gripping compound on his throwing hand????
You be the judge. The Phillies are a classy organization and likely will not make a stink about the ”DirtyBall Gate” that is threatening to explode around them. The Rockies have to be careful in how the respond to these damning allegations, but one thing is beginning to emerge. The Rockies may have been playing with a marked deck in their magical run to the playoffs. This sleight of hand has the potential to cause the league office, and commish Bud Selig, significant headaches if the allegations of Patriots-like devilishness are found to be true.
On an upbeat note for the Phillies, team optometrist, Dr. Swinkenmiss, has examined the top of the lineup and determined that there are no detectable vision issues plaguing the hitsless bunch.
