What a finish to what is one of the most memorable series in recent years. Chase Utley. How do you decide to pitch to Chase Utley in that spot?! Yeah J Roll has hurt them in the series but come on, it’s Chase Utley. HAHAHA. That move makes Willie Randolph look like… […]
Phils grab No.3, but was it interference at 2nd base?
The Phils took the third straight from the Mets last night. Wow.
I am feeling a little full but……How about dessert?
I looked at the replay several times. Marlon Anderson went out of his way to contact Guch on the play at second base. Looking around the bases and the consensus is he is out. Game over.
From Doc […]
Phillies take another from the Mets. Can they get a Third?
In the past week, I have been discouraged, frustrated, elated and now anticipating. I stated last week that the Phils needed to go 7-3 on this home stand to keep a reasonable hope of making the playoffs. They promptly got run over by San Diego and LA. That was the discouraged and frustrated […]
Did Runyan look old on Sunday?
Philadelphia’s John Runyan has been a good NFL tackle and is entering his 12th season. Rookie LaMarr Woodley, rushing from the Steelers’ left side, made Runyan look old. He brushed past Runyan, who made a pitiful attempt to block him. Woodley might do that to a lot of right tackles this year and could be […]
Up and Adam
Adam Eaton has returned from the DL and given the Phils a solid 5 2/3 innings. I began writing this post noting that he had produced a quality start. I had to erase that as he got yanked after being unable to get the 3rd out. Unfortunately, Charlie has decided to go with Geoff Geary […]
Can the Phils beat up on the Mets? They need to beat up on the Mets.
What has to happen for the Phils to get back into serious contention in the wild card race, let alone the division race? They don’t just need to, they must beat up on the Mets for four games. If they can manage to win 3 games, they can pick up 2 games in the division and maybe […]
Eagles Drop Preseason Game 3 to Steelers
In the only preseason game that most fans get concerned about, the Eagles lost to the Steelers 27-13. The starters lost 13-3. Brian Westbrook hardly played getting just 1 carry for 2 yards. I thought that Correll Buckhalter looked decent, although it was hard to see any cohesion in the offensive play due to the penalties. They […]
Phading Away
The good vibe that was keeping the Phillies focused on the tasks in front of them, enough to maintain striking distance in the playoff chase is a memory. After tying with the Padres for the wild card lead last weekend, the limping arms of the pitching staff and the utterly inept, Utley-less offensive lineup have […]

Memories of Players Past
When I think of memorable Eagles players from years gone by, I see plays in my head that define them for me. Some plays are very specific.
Wilbert Montgomery - I know it is everyone’s play for Wilbert - is winning the NFC Championship game. Off right tackle, through the Dallas line, bursting into the secondary […]

Just for a laugh!
- Dan Rather, Katie Couric, and a tough Marine Sergeant were all captured by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would grant them each one last request before they were beheaded. Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot spicy chili." The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content." Katie Couric said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till the end." The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and Couric dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy." The leader turned and said, "And now, Mr. Marine tough guy, what is your final wish?" "Kick me in the ass," said the Marine. "What?" asked the leader? "Will you mock us in your last hour?" "No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the Marine. So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from under his flack jacket, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting confusion, he jumped to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and sprayed the terrorists with gunfire. In a flash, all of them were either dead or fleeing for their lives. As the marine was untying Rather and Couric, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass first?" What???" replied the Marine, "and have you two assholes report that I was the aggressor?"
